Vitamin B17........A Cure for Cancer?

The "Big C".

For years, I have read about many so-called cancer cures, including a fruit-based diet, the use of sodium bicarbonate (commonly called baking soda), and the use of food grade hydrogen peroxide, to name a few.

Lately, I have been reading about the use of Amygdalin or Laetrile.

Although not a vitamin, Amygdalin or Laetrile is promoted as Vitamin B17.

The theory is that by eating a diet rich in Vitamin B17, one can prevent and perhaps reverse cancer, depending on its severity.

The highest concentration of Vitamin B17 is apparently found in bitter almonds and apricot seeds. Other good sources include the seeds of apples, pears, peaches, plums, prunes, and squashes.

The recommended dose is about three apples per day, including seeds. And, more is not necessarily better.

If this cancer prevention method is indeed valid, then it's too bad that I was told as a kid to not eat the seeds of fruits because they would cause trees to grow in my stomach.

Jokes aside, from this day forward I will be eating the seeds of certain fruits. While this may someday be proven not to confer benefits, the key is to stack the odds in your favour by engaging in behaviours presently thought to promote health and longevity.

  1. I didn't know about using vitamin B17. That's cool. I will try it. I know you can even buy fruit seeds online.
